Interview with Jonathan Nossiter, director of film "Mondovino" (translation)

"... [Wine] in itself is the representation of the world. There exists a simple reason for this. Wine, in its infinite complexity of expressions is, the planet over, the closest thing to the image of the human being, uniting Judeo-Christian and Greek-Roman traditions. It retains, or rather prolongs, them—alive, vital and current. Wine is thus a unique guardian of western civilization. Trying to grasp the world state of wine is inevitably a quest for our relation to life and death, but also the conveyance of a past facing the future."

PRIVATE TOURS & CUSTOM SERVICES

We will organize private custom itineraries and all services in Tuscany, Umbria, Liguria, Sicily, and Piedmont for any number of persons, any number of days, with as little or much structure as you prefer. This can range from the most detailed tour with a full-time guide to a simpler program with accommodations, transportation, local guides, any special interests, and ample free time.

Any itinerary can be created to satisfy your vacation, whether it is a honeymoon, celebration, executive retreat, or a break from a business conference. Chianti Classico, Montalcino and Montepulciano in Tuscany are our most requested areas but itineraries may be custom-tailored in any other appellation or to complement visits already planned in Italy.

Each tour varies somewhat. A typical very full one-day tour includes a morning and afternoon winery and tasting (generally a large and smaller estate in one appellation), English-speaking guide, transportation, lunch or dinner with wine in a characteristic trattoria or the winery itself, and any caffè, aperitivi, or gelato along the way. A winery might be substituted with a guided a museum visit or walking tour in a city of art, festival (see WINE EVENTS), wine bar, artisan workshop, olive press, or cooking class. Our daily tour costs start at €235,00 each for 2-3 persons, €180,00 each for 4-6 persons. Since wines are forever changing, we continually seek new or undiscovered destinations to include in our tours. Let us create the right itinerary for you!
